May 2007
The just-concluded Spring RoundUp at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino was a record-breaking event.
Our biggest event was 846 players and we had several events in the 6- to 7-hundred-player range.
Just how big the events at the Wildhorse can be is a good question. We are increasing the number of live-
action tables; we were up to 30 tables this last tournamnet and are adding even more live-action tables in
November.
Our apologies to everyone who came to the tournament expecting the fine dining restaurant to be open.
But it is now open and we have also added a Sports Bar.
It is a little early to be talking about our Fall RoundUp in November, but let me just slip in a little tidbit
here and now. The Wildhorse tournament in November will be another record breaker--it will be the
biggest and best tournament ever, with a few new twists. Stay tuned right here for updates.
Now I guess every poker player in the world is getting ready to attend or follow the happenings at the
World Series of Poker. No one is quite sure what to expect. Several of the Internet sites are not
allowing U.S. players, so some guess the number of entrants in the main event will be down by a
significant number. I think it might be down a little, but I think too many players have got a taste of the
glamour, etc., of the event and are now, you might say, hooked. I guess we will see in a short time.
I want to thank the Commissioner for changing the dates of this year’s Series to a little cooler time in Las
Vegas, if that’s possible.
I am planning on going in at the first of the tournament and hopefully playing at least a dozen or more
events. I have taken enough time off--it’s time to get back to some poker playing.
My new book has been out just over a month and, with no advertising and very little effort on my part
(other than at the Wildhorse in April), over 200 books have been sold. It is a good beginning.
Just a reminder to all those who will be buying Father’s Day gifts for their fathers, books are a very nice
gift. I will be happy to sign them to your special dad.

Important question to all, did you file your federal income tax? If not better do it real quick or get an
extension.
Now to get on to less important things, my new book, as you all hopefully know, is out and most of my
close friends have bought a copy or two. Now we will see how the poker community will react to the
book. This book will probably not be available at Barnes and Noble, Borders and other bookstores such
as this. It will, as you could guess, always be available on my website.
I will be leaving to go to my favorite tournament in a couple of days. That’s right, it is time for the Spring
Poker Round-Up at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton, Oregon. I can’t wait to see the new
addition, which is a fine dining room. It is a structural add-on to the Casino. I always thought the dining
room/coffee shop they had at the Wildhorse was nice as could be, so as I say, I can’t wait to see how they
improved on that.
I have been told by the boss, Roland Waters (he likes to be called that), that the turn-out will be right up
there with the biggest tournaments we have had at the Wildhorse.
I am hoping to see all my old friends and maybe have the pleasure of meeting some new friends up in the
great state or Oregon.

March 2007
It is my pleasure to announce that my new book titled “Inside Poker: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” is
out. Its subtitle is “Stories, Reflections and Anecdotes.” You can purchase the book here on my website
for $14.95 plus shipping and handling. The new book has 66 of my columns with afterthoughts on almost
all of the columns, plus 17 published cartoons that I collaborated on with my friend John Bonafede.
I think you will find the new book an enjoyable read. I think it is the type of book that you can stop
reading at the end of each column or article and pick the book back up whenever you feel the urge
without losing any continuity.
The new book will appeal to poker players but, I think, will also appeal to non-poker players. There are
only a few columns where I am dispensing technical poker strategy; most of the columns have a more
subtle strategy on looking at life from a realistic positive, winning point of view.
The book has not been reviewed by anyone yet but as soon as I have a review or two I will post them
here in case you are one those people who likes to hear some reactions to a book before you buy it.
It also with great pleasure that I can announce that I will once again be hosting the Spring Round-Up at
the Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton, Oregon. The dates of the tournament are April 18- April
28. We will be adding $86,500 to the prize pool plus prizes for the top three point leaders in the Best All-
Around Player Race. To see the schedule and the pertinent phone numbers to make reservations Click
